Cupcakes and Cleaning

On Tuesday, Mia was still in town, so we took Addi to lunch and then to get cupcakes. She was so excited and said, "cupcakes" about 39 times. :)
Addi loves to "tickle" right now. It's so cute.

Okay, so I know I'm a little obsessed with homemade cleaning tips and products right now. But, they are so amazing and I just have to share. I did take before and after pictures, but I'm so embarrassed I'm not even going to put them on here. Just trust me when I say, it works! Dixie is a very lazy dog and sometimes she can't make it the whole night holding her bladder. We have a lot of "Dixie" spots in our room and while we resolve it, there is still a slight stain. This really did the trick, even on spots that were really old. The only word of advice is to be careful not to scorch your carpet! Josh was kinda mad at me, because there is a spot I accidentally burned. Oops. Just keep the iron on the towel at all times. Here is the site with directions.

Ugh. I gave up DC at the beginning of the year, and haven't had one in a long time. I kept getting light headed today and coffee was making it worse. I thought some carbonation would help so I cracked open this bad boy. I'm happy to report it didn't even taste that good. Maybe I'm cured? I only took a few sips and couldn't enjoy it. Hooray!
I've been meaning to embroider/applique these for Addi, for quite a while now. I love how the owl turned out!

On another note, for some reason, Addi has been sleeping TERRIBLY the past week/s. She either goes down at a normal time and wakes up at 2 or 3, or she doesn't go to bed till 1 or 2. It's really starting to take it's toll. Tonight, I went in twice and didn't get her out, but just said, Addi we are all sleeping, it's time for you to sleep too. And just walked out. Thankfully, she went to sleep after the second time. I feel like we are sleep training again! :)

Hope y'all have had a great week so far!

All About Addi

I thought I would do a little update on what Addi is doing and saying.
  • She knows pretty much all of her letters. She gets some mixed up, but she can identify almost all of them.
  • We are working on numbers. Josh said he wants her adding by next month. ;)
  • The girl can count though for sure. She definitely might be math minded like her daddy.
  • She knows ALOT of shapes: triangle, square, circle, rectangle, diamond, heart, star, oval, crescent, hexagon, pentagon, octagon, parallelogram and trapezoid. Thanks, Melissa & Doug puzzles!
  • She can spell her name.
  • She is speaking in full sentences. Addi still has her own language sometimes, but for the most part, she communicates very well.
  • We are in the fit throwing stage, which has been fun. ;) When Addi gets especially tired, she gets very VERY dramatic. Cue big tears and fake cries. It's so pitiful!
  • Food has been getting better. We got her to try carrots and she eats them now. We told her that bunnies eat carrots and so she got really excited.
  • There are still some days where we can't get her to eat hardly anything. Strong willed just like her daddy.
  • Addi likes to call Belle, "flower" sometimes. I think she gets it from Tangled, because Rapunzel's mom calls her flower. It's really sweet.
  • Addi likes to fake us out sometimes by quizzing herself and purposefully answering wrong. Like she will ask herself, "what sound does a pig make?" And she will answer back, "moooo!" and think it's the funniest thing ever. Which makes us laugh really hard.
  • I think we may be close to giving up the paci. She only gets it at bedtime and naptime, and in the morning we put it in our paci jar and she says "night-night" to it, and usually doesn't ask about it until sleep time.
  • One of Addi's favorite things to do is watch football with Josh. When he gets home, she will grab his hand and say, "watch football?" and lead him either to our room or the game room. It's a dream come true for him. :)
  • She also likes to lay down sometimes during the day. Which is so fun. We all will pile in the bed and watch a show, and just relax.
  • Addi has gotten pretty bossy with the dogs lately. If they do something or she thinks they are doing something bad, she will tell them to go lay down or stop. Hilarious.
  • Last week at storytime, she REALLY wanted to touch the felt board and so she army crawled up to where it was, the whole time just being really sneaky and slowly looked around, stood up and touched it, then ran back. She really thought that nobody could see her!
Addi, you are the sweetest little girl I know and I am so proud to be your momma!!!

Our Weekend!

This weekend was SO much fun!!! We didn't really have a whole lot of plans, so we got to relax some! On Friday, Addi and I kicked off the weekend by going to storytime at the library. I have to say, although it was fun, I'm not sure we will go back during story time. The lady that led it was pretty impatient and kinda mean. She got on to Addi for touching her felt board. Just touching it. And when Addi squirmed in my lap and kinda whimpered because I wouldn't let her get up, she would just glare at her. It really rubbed me the wrong way, but maybe I'm just a momma bear. Anyways!!! Addi did have a blast coloring with sweet Ava.
Poor gal took a hard nap in the car that afternoon! She will sometimes get nap lines from her carseat straps. The signs of a GOOD nap! :)
I've been making Addi these things called monster smoothies. It's great for kids who won't eat their veggies! Here is the recipe:

1 Banana
4-5 strawberries
handful of blueberries
1 heaping cup of spinach leaves
splash of milk
1 Tbsp of greek yogurt
2 Tbsp of honey
1/2 cup ice

I found the recipe on Pinterest of course, here. I also added some carrot juice for an extra veggie dose. She loves these things and I couldn't be happier. I get SO worried that she's not eating enough of the right things, so this is perfect.

Friday night, Josh and I had a little at home date night. We went and ate pizza with friends, but once we put Addi to bed, we watched Moneyball. Josh saw this twice in theaters and really wanted me to watch it. I'm so bad about sitting still and not checking my email or getting up to do something. Haha! So I unplugged for a few hours and really enjoyed this movie!

On Saturday, Josh let me sleep in and he made breakfast. SO nice. :) I love waking up to the smell of bacon. Haha! We had a really relaxing day, which was great. That night, we went out to dinner with some other friends. Addi requested we go for ice cream afterwards, and you know we couldn't say no to that! :)
Okay, I have to share something with y'all. There is this etsy shop called the laughing giraffe. I have been drooling over these dresses for so long! I finally broke down and ordered me and Addi matching ones. I am SO excited!!! I've always wanted us to match and these are just the cutest!!!
Sunday morning, I made blueberry muffins in my cake pop maker. They turned out really good!
Addi was doing the Tebow dance I taught her! Haha! Just ignore that eyesore on the wall there.
Sweet girl!
We went to Josh's grandma's house for lunch and she showed me this quilt that she is working on for Addi. I LOVE it because each of the squares is made with leftover fabric from Addi's outfits she has made. How special is that?! I know Addi is going to cherish that one day.
Okay, don't laugh too hard! Yes, that is me...in a onesie. Haha! We had a slumber party Sunday night and busted out the one pieces!
These are my best friends, Treece and Mia! We have been bff's since high school. I love these girls so much.
And not a whole lot has changed since high school either. ;)
BROWNIES.
Today, we went to the Old State House Museum for a really neat exhibit. This is our civil war pose. Did y'all know that I have a degree in history???

After the museum, we went and got pedicures.

Such a GREAT weekend!!!!!!!!!

Mommy Makeover

I am excited to write my first mommy makeover post! I'm excited because I've seen a little bit of progress. I've been using MyFitnessPal again and weighing in every week. So far, I've lost 2.8 lbs! Not a whole lot, but I'm on the road! :) The weird thing is, I haven't really been counting calories that much. I really need too, but I think the combination of no fast food and giving up cokes has helped alot.

I've also been doing some little things for myself. Like painting my nails. Seems so small, but if I take the time to do it, I feel a little more put together.

I also got these pore cleansing pads for my face. My friend Treece, who is an aesthetician, told me this little tip for clear skin. Keeping your skin exfoliated is key, but when you use like a pore strip or something similar, that brings out impurities, make sure you put a little bit of salicylic acid on the area to help keep it clear.

I can also say I've gotten dressed every day this week! I'm sure Josh is happy to not see 10 pairs of yoga pants in the laundry this week. ;)

Yay for little accomplishments!

Scenes from This Week

Tuesday, Addi and I went to the Wonderplace! This is one of our favorite places to go play. It was so rainy and yucky outside, so this was the perfect place to go.
Hugging all the animals. :)
Future radiologist?
This sweet bear also went pee pee in the potty Tuesday night!!!! This is the second time for her to do this! Yay!!!! She is probably ready to start potty training. I think we are going to take it slow. But, I do need to get a handle on how and when we are going to do this.
Addi was a little more than tired at this point and had a meltdown because part of her banana was brown. Michelle was there to verify. We did go and eat lunch with Lila afterwards and Addi was on her best behavior for her. :) Lila also watched Addi while I got a facial from my best friend Treece! So nice!
On Monday, I received my second birchbox! I LOVE everything in this one! The granola was especially tasty, but once I got online to order, it was sold out. :(
Josh was sweet and brought me this one night that I stayed up working. Yum!
My Erin Condren planner has been hard at work this week. :)
Silly girl!
Just had to share. We had poppyseed chicken Monday night and it was delish! We haven't had it in awhile, because I get on a kick where I will make it every week and then get tired of it. Haha!
Hope y'all have had a great week! I'm going to do my first mommy makeover post Thursday if you are interested in linking up with me!

Homemade Febreeze

Ever since I came across that "recipe" for the amazing baking soda and peroxide cleaner, I've been very excited to try other homemade cleaning solutions. My friend Noah sent me a text the other day saying he had made his own Febreeze. I don't know about you, but I LOVE Febreeze. I will spray it on everything, multiple times a day. Our dogs are sometimes stinky, so we need it! Problem is, Febreeze isn't that cheap, especially if you use it as often as we do. This recipe is so easy and best of all, so inexpensive. It is probably stuff you have on hand anyways. Here is what it is...

-In a 32 oz. spray bottle (I used a empty clorox bottle), mix together 2 Tablespoons of baking soda, 2 Tablespoons of fabric softener and fill the rest with hot water. Shake it around and then start spraying! Just plain softener like Downy makes it smell like regular Febreeze. I think once I run out of the bottle I have, I am going to get some Gain scented or perhaps lavender scented softener!

Here is the post from which I took the recipe.

Happy Cleaning! And if you see more tips like this, send them my way! :)

Weekend in Oklahoma

We are back from a fun and interesting weekend in Oklahoma. Josh's babysitter who had a big part in raising him and his sister Rhen, was turning 60 so we went to help her celebrate! She is the sassiest and funniest lady. Her name is Sadie and they just adore her. Before we kicked off our weekend, we cheered on the Hogs Friday night in the Cotton Bowl!
Woo Pig!!!

So glad we won! Saturday morning, we made the drive with Josh's dad, Jeanette, and sisters Emma and Rhen to Edmond, Oklahoma. It was so neat to see where Josh grew up! We met Sadie at Chipotle for a quick lunch, then headed to our hotel.

Addi had a blast jumping on the bed.

I can't say much about Saturday night, but I'll just leave you with this picture. :)

Sweet little baby had to get in our bed Saturday night.
The next morning, we went to the restaurant that Sadie works at. The people that own it are Creole and it's called The Cajun King. Oh the food was amazing. He brought us out some fried catfish that was the best I've ever had, beignets (my love language) and then sent us home with gumbo and jambalaya. SO GOOD.
Addi thoroughly enjoyed her biscuit. :)
Josh, Addi and Sadie.
Car ride home. Silly girl.
Hope y'all had a great weekend!
