Rhett's Birth Story-Part 1

I'm going to break Rhett's birth story up into a few parts since it's so long and I don't want to forget any details. :)

So from my last post, I had said I was really discouraged with all the contractions I had been having, but no progress. I had been taking a tylenol pm at night to help me sleep through them and that helped my attitude quite a bit. On Friday, I decided to make the most of what few days we had left and Addi and I had a pretty fun day despite the rain. We went to a music class at the library, then lunch with Josh, then Target. That night was Grant and Loghan's rehearsal dinner. I kept joking that I hoped my water would break in front of everyone, but sadly it did not. Haha! We had a really fun time at the dinner and Addi made a sweet new friend.

Saturday, we all slept in and had a lazy day. Addi and I made cupcakes and just kinda hung out and watched movies all day. It was still so nasty outside and cold. Crazy for late March!

Addi was dressed so cute for the wedding and was excited about seeing her new friend Annabelle as the flower girl. Although, she kept asking if she could do it.
Sweet girl fell asleep on the way there and slept through the whole ceremony!
This was the best wedding because there was the best food. Fried catfish and chicken fingers!!!
The girls danced ALL night. It was so cute to watch.
This was Addi's go to move. Haha! So around 7:30, I had my first contraction. I didn't think anything about it because I had been contracting for weeks. At about 8:30 I told Josh I felt like going home because I just didn't feel good. I couldn't put my finger on it, but looking back now I think that's when the true labor started. I got home about 9:30 and that's when they really started picking up. I still wasn't completely sure if it was the real thing, so we gave it a few more hours. Josh went to the after party and Addi and I hung out and got ready for bed. I put her to bed and called Josh and told him that I was going to go up to triage because they had been consistent for two hours. I texted Treece to go with me just in case it wasn't the real thing, I didn't want Josh to have gone with me twice for a false alarm. Ha!
I took one last picture with Addi just in case it was the real thing and I wanted to look back and say, that was my last picture as a mom to one!
Treece was the perfect person to have gone with me to triage.

She brought a bag just in case and her bag turned out to be a pillowcase. Most hilarious thing EVER.
When I checked in I explained to the nurse that this could be false labor because I had been contracting since 36 weeks and really the only way to tell if it was real if I had dilated anymore. So they hooked me up and the doctor came in and said I was at a 3! I was so excited but she said unless you are at a 4 you aren't in "active labor". So we waited another hour. Treece and I passed the time by watching hilarious youtube videos and cracking ourselves up. It was like 2 in the morning at this point, so delirium had already set in. When the doc came back in and checked me, I was at a 4! So we were officially having a baby at that point. I was so excited, relieved, scared and happy. So many emotions. I called Josh to let him know and he called his dad and Jeanette to come and sit with Addi at the house.
Yay!!! Labor!!!
This was right before I got in the hospital bed, exactly 39 weeks!
This concludes the first part. Hopefully it won't take me another week to write the next! :)

First Day of Spring!

Hey friends! Isn't that picture of josh painting addis nails the sweetest?? He painted my toenails tonight because I can't reach them. Sweet man. :)

Last night was just miserable. I overdid it cleaning the house yesterday and was awake all night with painful contractions. It was a two cup morning today!

We had some friends over today for a little play date. We ordered pizza and the kids had a blast playing. I can't wait till it warms up a bit more!

I had a dr appointment today that was interesting. My dr is out of town so I saw someone new, but the nurse asked if I was having contractions and I said yes, and then she asked if Rhett was moving ok and I said not as much today. Well they hooked me up to a monitor for an hour to keep an eye on him. Kinda scary but he was rolling around just fine. I still haven't progressed from a 2 and it made me a little discouraged. I keep having such painful contractions that last hours and its just a bummer they aren't doing anything. I also have a uti and she said sometimes that can cause contractions so I'm on an antibiotic so hopefully that will help. I'm just really ready to meet my sweet angel boy. :)

To cheer me up, we cooked one of my fav meals tonight. Fried pork chops, mashed potatoes and fried squash. Delicious!!!!

Hope y'all had a great day!!

Rhett's Room

Welcome to Rhett's room!

Josh's grandma made the curtains, boppy cover, blanket, and bedding. She is awesome.

We ordered the prints above the changing table on etsy. And Josh's coworker, Sarah, painted the canvas above his bed. We've had that portrait of stonewall Jackson for years. josh got it for me when we were in college. I am so fascinated by the civil war and stonewall is one of my favorite generals. We both decided to leave it in one of our kids rooms after that song by don Williams, good old boys like me. The song goes, "when I was a boy uncle Remus would put me to bed. With a picture of stonewall Jackson above my bed." It's a great song. :)

So now that its all finished, you can come out now Rhett! :)

Our Weekend

One day ill figure the spacing out on this mobile blogger! Haha. We had a fun weekend! It started out not so great because addi woke up Friday morning throwing up. Thankfully it was gone by that night and josh and I didn't get sick. We did miss my baby shower that our awesome playgroup threw for us! Brittany dropped off the gifts and some amazing coffee lunch later that afternoon. :)

Josh made breakfast Saturday morning. There is nothing better than waking up to the smell of bacon. :) I had a prenatal massage that afternoon and it was so beautiful outside. Josh and addi played at the park and then we grilled some ribs for dinner. Wonderful day!

Sunday, I was 38 weeks! I'm just at that point where I am just done being pregnant. I have another uti and every time I have a contraction it hurts SO bad. Sunday night was terrible. I thought about going to the hospital because I was in so much pain. I know Rhett will be here soon enough though and I'm trying to soak up these last days. I had a pretty big pity party today though. Haha! Scott and Jeanette came into town for dinner and we did some shopping at SAMs too. I think I just need to get out of the house so addi and I are going to do some fun stuff tommorow. :)

Hope y'all had a great weekend!!!

Potty Training

I don't know if I've blogged about our attempts to potty train Addi before or not, but we've tried at least 4 times. The last time she was a little over three and we said it was time. WELPPP...I don't know if you know this, but toddlers and ours in particular are extremely strong willed. ;) We did the "guaranteed" three day method where you just leave them in panties and clean up the accidents until they get it. Oh and there is a party and rewards and it only takes 3 days! Well, Addi held it for 3 days. Not kidding. She didn't go at all the first day, held it until she was peeing on her hands the second day, and by the third she was running a fever and crying saying her peepee hurt. We decided it just wasn't worth the pain it was causing her and we would try again when she was ready. Addi is 3 1/2 now and still wasn't displaying signs of being ready or wanting to be ready. We talked about it again and Josh and I decided that we were just going to have to force her into being ready. I truly think she would be okay with just wearing diapers forever. Having a wet diaper has never bothered her and peer pressure doesn't affect her. That might not be the best way to go about it, but with Rhett coming, we didn't want two kids in diapers.
I say Addi wasn't on board,  but she actually initiated when we started. She was going through her DVD's and found this potty training DVD that I had bought the last time we tried. It was a cartoon about a girl named Hannah with the most annoying song in the history of the world. But! It got Addi interested and so we just went with it. In the movie, Hannah goes and picks out new underwear and she gets a new potty. We went to Target that night and Addi picked out her big girl underwear! Yes, they are boy underwear, but this girl loves her some pirates and Toy Story. ;)
She also picked out a new potty! We had another one, but she was really excited about this one so I thought, what the heck, maybe it will help.
So, the first day, she wore her underwear and we watched the Hannah video 50 times. My strategy for this day was to just get her to not hold it. I had stocked up at Target with some cheapy little toys and lots of candy. The first day, she got to choose a prize for just going. The first time she went was in the floor and she was a little shocked. I told her she did a great job and I was so proud of her and next time we would just try for the potty. The first day she went about 3 times, but didn't make it to the potty. Which was fine, I was just happy she was going!
On the second day, she still wasn't making it to the potty, but she was going a lot more. We cut out the prizes and only did Starbursts for each time. By the third day I was really losing hope. She was being so stubborn about just having to go really really bad, but not going on the potty. She would sit there for an hour and a half and have to go, but wouldn't! I was on the phone with Josh that afternoon and I just started crying because it was stressful. Not a proud momma moment, but Addi went pee pee on the potty for the first time when she saw me crying. She felt so bad I guess and wanted me to feel better. Sweet girl. So we made a huge deal out of it and her and Josh went to the pet store that night to get an aquarium and fish! That was her BIG prize for finally going. Well so about 5 I started having contractions every 2 minutes. They started out just as Braxton Hicks, but kept getting worse as the night went on. I was only 36 weeks so I was freaking out a little. We started timing them and they were consistently a minute and a half apart for 2 hours. My doctor told me to go up to the hospital to get checked out. So at midnight we went up there and thankfully I wasn't in labor. It was so weird though because they were so consistent and painful. I've been contracting at night ever since then and the doctor warned me this would probably be my new baseline. So kinda no fun.
So by day 4, Addi was much more comfortable going to the potty. She had a few accidents on the 4th day, but we couldn't have been more proud. By the 5th day, we were down to no accidents and she even went to the potty while at playgroup. I brought her elmo potty and we just went to the car when she needed to go. Josh told her every day she went pee pee on the potty he would get her a fish. So Addi has quite the collection now!

She is so proud and we couldn't be more proud of her! It took a little longer than expected and we did it very unconventionally but I think every kid is different and different things work for everyone. The only advice I have is to keep it positive! Whatever progress they make is great! She still hasn't gone #2 on the potty, but we will get to that eventually! :)

Major Catch Up

I am thankful we haven't had any real bad sickness this winter, but there have been several days where Addi has been under the weather. This was probably the worst it got. One night she woke up screaming and having night terrors. It scared me so bad. Her fever wasn't that bad and we later found out with mild fevers it can cause nightmares and night terrors in toddlers. Poor baby. She was talking about a bug she saw and we couldn't get her to snap back to reality. :(
This was during one of my checkups! Addi was giving me some solid advice. She said, "if a baby kicks, it means they are your friend." Good to know!!! This girl cracks me up!
This was during her sick day. Poor Belle gets so worried about her.
She was all better and raring to go this day with her Spiderman purse!
While Hadley was here, the girls had a blast playing together. It was so fun to hear their conversations.
Just taking a little break at playgroup! Haha!
This was after the shower. Poor bear was so tired.
 So was her Daddy!
One of her favorite things is to watch the ladies at Hobby Lobby cut fabric. She's fascinated by it!
Y'all have got to try these muffins. DELISH.
So scary story. One Monday night while Scott and the kids were in town, we all went to Red Lobster for dinner. We left at 8:00 and 15 minutes later the restaurant was robbed with the customers still inside. Thank goodness no one got hurt, but when I found out the next day it made me ill. Towards the end of the meal, the girls took Addi up front to look at the lobster tank while we finished up eating. They would have been all alone when the robbers came in, and Addi gets so upset with loud noises and yelling. It just breaks my heart to think of how traumatic it would have been for her. Thank you God for sparing us from that situation and thank you for protecting those who were in the restaurant. Little Rock has gotten so bad lately. It seems like there is a shooting or a robbery every day near us.
This was one day I was under the weather! Addi cheered me up by decorating my face for Easter. ;)
Sweet Belle is just about to drive me bananas. She won't leave my side. It's very endearing, and I know it's because she senses Rhett is coming soon, but man, I need my space girl!
Addi has been loving playing in Rhett's room and playing with all of his toys.
 More playgroup fun!

These two just love each other so much. :)
 Sweet girls!
The weather is FINALLY getting so so nice!!! We've spent several afternoons outside and I'm loving it.

I really don't know who was having more fun!
Ice cream on the porch one night. :)
 Picnic outside!
Starbucks is great, but free Starbucks?? AWESOME.
Today, Addi woke up with a tummy bug. Poor thing. This afternoon she hadn't thrown up in awhile and was getting her energy back. I'm glad Josh and I were spared. He was feeling queasy but I think it missed us. I've sanitized everything and done what seems like eighty loads of laundry today. Haha!
